Review Japanese Conversation (over the phone)

Man - Moshi Moshi, Itto san desu ka?  -  Hello. Is it Ms. Itto?

Woman - Hai. Itto desu – Yes. This is Itto.

M - Suzuki desu. Konnichiwa – This is Suzuki. Hello

W - Ah. Suzuki San,Konnichiwa – Ah. Mr. Suzuki. Hello

M - Itto San. Konban watashi to bangohan o tabemasen ka? – Ms. Itto. Won’t you eat dinner with me tonight?

W - Sumimasen. Konban wa chotto – Sorry. Tonight won’t work

M - Ja. Ashita no ban wa? – Then How about tomorrow evening?

W - Ashita no ban. Nan ji? Sichi ji? – Tomorrow evening. What time? Seven o clock?

M - Hachi ji wa? – How about Eight o clock?

W - Eh. ii desu – Yes. Ok.

M - Ja. Ashita no ban. Hachi ji ni watashi no thokolo de – Then tomorrow evening my place at eight o clock

W - Hai. Wakharimashta. – Yes. Understood

New Japanese Words

Moshi Moshi – Hello (over the phone)

Jaa mata ashita – See you tomorrow

Kheko Desu – Fine

Ikkuru – How much

Soshite - And

Thousand – sen

Seven – naan (not sichi when used as 10’s, 100’s and so on)

Four – Yon (not yo when used as 10’s, 100’s and so on)

en-  Yen (Japanese currency)

Khyo wa – As of today

Japanese Grammar Notes

Depending on context some words may have more than one meaning. Iie. ‘Kheko desu’  is No, Thank You. While ‘Kheko Desu‘is Ok.Fine

To say thousand, two thousand and so on. Sen is added after the number. Ni Sen (two thousand) Yon Sen(Four thousand) . However in case of three thousand. Sen is pronounced as zen. So three thousansd is San Zen and not San Sen.

Form Japanese Sentences

Then tomorrow evening at six o clock - Ja ashita no ban roku ji ni.

Then later - Ja aatode

Listen and repeat please - Khite kirukaishite kudasai

Won’t  you drink tonight? - Konban nomiasen ka?

Tonight won’t work - Konban wa chotto

Are you going to eat dinner ?- Bangohan o tabemasu ka?

What is the time now?  - Ima nan ji desu ka?

It’s 10 o clock now - Ima jyu ji desu ka

I want to eat at 5 o clock - Go ji ni tabethai desu

With Ms. Itto - Itto san tho

I want to eat with you - Anata to tabethai desu

Yes. I too want to eat with you - Eh, watashi mo anata to tabethai desu

Won’t you have dinner tomorrow evening? -  Ashita no ban bangohan o tabemasen ka?

I am not going to eat lunch today - Khyo wa hirugohan o tabemasen

I am not going to eat today - Khyo wa tabemasen

I don’t want to eat today - Khyo wa tabethaku arimasen

But I am going to eat dinner - Demo bangohan o tabemasu

DO you want to drink rice wine too? - Osake mo nomimasu ka?

Yes. I want to drink - Eh. Nomithai desu

I don’t want to drink tonight - Konban wa nomithaku arimasen

I don’t want to drink today - Khyo wa nomithaku arimasen

What time you are going to eat today? - Khyo wa nanjini tabemasu ka?

Won’t you have dinner tomorrow? - Ashita no ban bangohan tabemasen ka?

How much it is? - Ikkuru desu ka?

How much it is today? - Khyo wa ikkuru desu ka?

It is Two thousand yen - Ni sen en desu

How much is sake? - Osake wa ikkuru desu ka?

It is Three thousand yen - san zen desu.

Is it six thousand yen? - Roku sen en desu ka?

No. It’s seven thousand yen - Iie. Nana sen en desu.

Its is not six thousand yen - Roku sen en ja arimasen.

Isn’t it six thousand yen?  - Roku sen en ja arimasen ka?

Thousand yen and thousand yen is two thousand yen - Sen en soshite sen en, Ni sen en desu

Two Thousand yen and thousand yen is three thousand yen - Ni sen en soshite sen en, san zen en desu

Three thousand yen and thousand yen is four thousand yen - San zen en soshite sen en, yon sen en desu

M – Moshi Moshi

W - Moshi Moshi. Itto desu

M - Khyo watashi to bangohan o tabemasen ka?

W - Eh. ii desu  ne

M - Doko de tabemasu ka?

W - Wakharimasen

M - Ja nambante wa tabemasu ka?

W - Eh, ii desu. Nan ji ni

M - Hachi ji wa

W - Sumimasen. Hachi ji wa chotto

M - Sichi ji wa?

W - Hai. kheko desu. Ja Konban wa sichi ji ni

M - Ja mata ashita

Translation(Another conversation over the phone)

M – Hello

W – Hello. This is Itto

M – Won’t you have dinner with me today?

W – Yes. Ok.

M – Where you want to eat?

W – I don’t know

M – Then how about eating at nambante?

W – Yes. Ok. What time?

M – eight o clock

W – Sorry 8 o clock won’t work

M – 7 o clock

W – Yes. It’s fine. Then tomorrow evening 7 o clock

M – See you tomorrow
